1. Playing Role as Chief Executive of Bangladesh Railway under the control of Ministry of  Railways.
2. Playing Role as Functional/Administrative Head for day-to-day operations and maintenance of Bangladesh Railway to provide safe, reliable and efficient services.
3. Responsible for ensuring the maintenance of Railway’s own properties.
4. Responsible for preparing plans for the development of Railway and arranging the implementation thereof.
5. Discharging the duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Government.
